Design Principles: Students gain an understanding of design principles and elements, including color theory, composition, balance, and proportion. They learn how to apply these principles to create visually appealing and functional designs.
Product Development Process: The program covers the product development lifecycle, including research, ideation, concept development, prototyping, and final production. Students learn about market analysis, user-centered design, and iterative design processes.
Technical Skills: Students gain technical skills necessary for industrial design, such as sketching, rendering, and 2D/3D modeling. They learn to use design software and tools, including computer-aided design (CAD) software, for creating digital designs and prototypes.
Materials and Manufacturing Processes: The certificate program explores different materials used in industrial design and manufacturing processes. Students learn about their properties, applications, and considerations for material selection. They gain an understanding of manufacturing techniques and production constraints.
Design Research and Analysis: Students learn research methods and techniques for gathering user insights, market trends, and competitive analysis. They gain skills in conducting design research, analyzing data, and translating findings into design solutions.
