YCI leaves a positive impact on the Wandegeya community.

On 21/02/2024, the YMCA Comprehensive Institute (YCI) community transformed Wandegeya, embracing the spirit of social responsibility and environmental awareness. Led by Dean of Students Mr. Kizito James and Guild President Mr. Paul Kizza Alex, alongside the Guild Council, a dedicated team rolled up their sleeves for a clean-up drive in waste-impacted areas.

But the initiative went beyond just picking up trash. It served as a platform to sensitize the community about proper waste disposal and the crucial need to reduce plastic usage. Engaging conversations were held, emphasizing the importance of individual actions in conserving our environment for a healthier future.

This outreach activity held even more significance, marking a momentous occasion for YCI. The team proudly shared the news of the institution’s recent achievement – becoming the first private Other Degree Awarding Institution (ODAI) in Uganda!

The benefits of this prestigious recognition were explained, highlighting the enhanced value of YCI degrees for graduates, increased international collaboration opportunities, and a commitment to producing highly skilled professionals for Uganda’s development. The public was informed about the diverse range of programs offered, catering to various aspirations and career paths.

The warm reception from the Wandegeya community was truly heartwarming. Residents actively participated in the clean-up, demonstrating a shared commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable environment. Open discussions about YCI’s new charter generated genuine interest and excitement, with parents and students exploring the expanded educational opportunities the institution now offers.

By combining environmental action, community engagement, and sharing exciting news, YCI’s outreach in Wandegeya was a resounding success. It showcased the institution’s dedication to social responsibility, environmental protection, and providing quality education that empowers individuals and contributes to Uganda’s progress.

YCI extends its sincere gratitude to the Wandegeya community for their participation and receptiveness. Together, we can create a cleaner, more informed, and brighter future for all!
