The Bachelor of Catering & Hospitality Management program is designed to prepare students for dynamic and rewarding careers in the vibrant hospitality industry. This comprehensive program provides a solid foundation in catering and hospitality management principles, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and industry experience required to excel in various hospitality sectors.
UCE and UACE Certificates with 2 Principle passes, or Diploma from a recognized Institution of Higher Learning in a relevant discipline.
Prospective applicants whose final high school grades are in percentages and average points system e.g. Sudan, DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia and others must have their grades first equated or standardized by Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) before admission to YMCA Comprehensive Institute.
Kenyan applicants for degree programmes should hold either;
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders must have a minimum Grade of C+ and above, OR
The Kenyan Advanced Certificate of Education “GCE or A-levels” applicants must have at least 2 principal passes or its equivalent.
Industry-Relevant Curriculum: The program’s curriculum is designed in close collaboration with industry professionals to ensure that students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the evolving demands of the hospitality sector. It integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experiences to create well-rounded graduates.
Practical Training and Internships: Students have opportunities for hands-on training through internships and industry placements. These experiences provide valuable exposure to real-world hospitality environments, allowing students to apply their classroom knowledge, develop industry networks, and gain practical insights into the operational aspects of the field.
Culinary Arts and Food Service Management: The program offers a strong focus on culinary arts, providing students with practical training in food preparation, menu planning, nutrition, and food safety. Students gain a solid foundation in culinary techniques, understanding the importance of quality, taste, and presentation in creating memorable dining experiences.
Hospitality Operations and Management: The program equips students with essential skills in managing hospitality operations, including front office management, housekeeping, guest services, and event planning. Students learn how to effectively coordinate and oversee the diverse elements of a hospitality establishment to ensure a seamless and exceptional guest experience.
Business and Entrepreneurial Skills: In addition to hospitality-specific courses, the program incorporates fundamental business and management subjects. Students develop skills in financial management, marketing, leadership, strategic planning, and entrepreneurship, empowering them to excel not only as hospitality professionals but also as potential business owners and managers.

NOTE:
A UGX 20,000 NCHE Fee is paid annually and directly to the National Council for Higher Education by the applicant upon enrolment.
Hostel accommodation for male and female students is available at Buwambo Campus at a fee of UGX 550,000 per quarter (Inclusive of accommodation and meals).
All students in the hostel will be required to bring toiletries.
