Program Highlights

Financial Accounting: Students gain an understanding of the principles and practices of financial accounting. They learn about recording financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and analyzing financial information. Students also learn about accounting standards and regulations.

Cost and Management Accounting: The program covers the basics of cost accounting and management accounting. Students learn about cost classification, cost behavior, budgeting, and variance analysis. They gain skills in analyzing costs, determining profitability, and making managerial decisions.

Taxation: Students learn about the fundamentals of taxation. They gain an understanding of tax laws and regulations, tax planning, and tax compliance. Students learn about income tax calculations for individuals and businesses, deductions, and tax reporting requirements.

Auditing: The certificate program introduces students to the principles and practices of auditing. They learn about audit procedures, internal controls, and audit techniques. Students gain knowledge of auditing standards and ethical considerations in auditing.

ACC111 – Fundamentals of Management (3CU):

Fundamentals of Management is a course that focuses on introducing students to the basic principles and practices of management. Students will learn about various management functions, such as planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The course aims to provide students with a foundation in understanding management concepts and their applications in business.

ECO230 – Economics (3CU):

Economics is a course that focuses on developing knowledge and understanding of basic economic principles and concepts. Students will learn about various economic systems, such as capitalism, socialism, and mixed economies, as well as economic theories, such as supply and demand, market equilibrium, and economic growth. The course aims to provide students with a foundation in understanding economic concepts and their applications in business.

ACC120 – Fundamentals of Accounting (3CU):

Fundamentals of Accounting is a course that focuses on developing knowledge and understanding of basic accounting principles and concepts. Students will learn about various accounting systems, such as financial accounting, cost accounting, and managerial accounting, as well as accounting principles, such as the accounting equation, double-entry accounting, and financial statement analysis. The course aims to provide students with a foundation in understanding accounting concepts and their applications in business.

ACC121 – Business Calculations (3CU):

Business Calculations is a course that focuses on developing knowledge and skills in business mathematics and calculations. Students will learn about various mathematical concepts, such as percentages, ratios, and proportions, as well as business applications of mathematics, such as financial analysis and forecasting. The course aims to provide students with a foundation in understanding business calculations.

ACC122 – Office Practice (3CU):

Office Practice is a course that focuses on developing practical skills in office management and administration. Students will learn about various office procedures, such as record-keeping, filing, and correspondence, as well as office technologies, such as telephones, fax machines, and email. The course aims to provide students with a foundation in understanding office practices and their applications in business.

COF140 – Computer Fundamentals (3CU):

Computer Fundamentals is a course that focuses on developing knowledge and understanding of basic computer concepts and applications. Students will learn about various computer components, operating systems, and software applications. The course aims to provide students with a foundation in understanding computer technology and its applications in business.

ACC131 – Elements of Auditing (4CU):

Elements of Auditing is a course that focuses on introducing students to the fundamental principles and practices of auditing. Students will learn about the auditing process, including identifying and assessing risks of material misstatement, understanding internal controls, and performing audit procedures. The course aims to provide students with a foundation in understanding the key elements of auditing.

ACC132 – General Principles of Law (3CU):

General Principles of Law is a course that focuses on providing students with a basic understanding of legal principles and concepts relevant to accounting. Students will learn about various legal frameworks, such as contract law, tort law, and business law, as they relate to accounting practices. ACC211 – Principles of Cost Accounting (4CU):

Students will learn about various cost accounting systems, such as job order costing, process costing, and activity-based costing, as well as cost accounting techniques, such as cost-volume-profit analysis, budgeting, and variance analysis. The course aims to provide students with a foundation in understanding cost accounting concepts and their applications in business.

ACC212 – Industrial Training (4CU):

Industrial Training is a course that focuses on providing students with practical work experience in an industrial setting. Students will work in an accounting organization and gain hands-on experience in various aspects of accounting, such as financial reporting, auditing, and tax preparation. CSC113 – Computer Applications (3CU):

CSC215: Computerized Accounting (3CU):

Students will learn about various accounting software applications, such as QuickBooks and Sage, as well as accounting information systems, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. The course aims to provide students with a foundation in understanding computerized accounting systems and their applications in business.
